HARVEST PROSPECTS. Melbourne. January 5.
The Age states that aa the harvest progreases it becomes more and more apparent, as far as wheat is conoeraed, that tbe combined yields of the colonies will fall considerably short of their own requirements. In Victoria there is josfc enough to anpply themselves ; South Australia has a positive deficit, and New South Wales a small surplus. Beckoning Queensland, Tasmania, and West Australia's requirements in conju&ction with the South Australian deficit, the lowest estimate chows a deficit for the combined colonies, as between the total yields and requirements, of two million bushels. Little assistance can be looked for from New Zealand, where the latest reports state that the harvest is a failure. Biwh fixes bay© done gr.ea.fc damage ie the
