LAND BOARD.
, The"weekly meeting of the Land Boai-d, held on Wednesday, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), H. Clark, W. Dallas, H. H. Kirkpatrick, and J. Duncan. Tarras —The I oard agreed that an area of about 72 acre-* of laud lying sections 7. 8, 10, and 11, block XII, Tarras district, applied for by Mr C. F. Watkins, jun., and Mr« Jane Wade, be divided between the two applicants, the former obtaining about 3G acres of the eastern portion and the latter a similar area of the western portioD, in each case under lease in perpetuity at a capital value of 15s per acre. Arrears Paid.— Tbe Receiver of Land
Revenue having reported that Eliza Greer and A. W. Geddes had now paid their arrears of rent, the resolution declaring their leases forfeited w»s rescinded.
Ardgowan. — An application by Mrs Isabella
JProctbr to transfer section 123, Ardgowau estate, _to James E. Wilcocks wafc referred to the ranger for a report. Makareao. — Consideration was deferred of a report by Ranger Atkinson upon section 16, block IV, Makareao estate. Lauder. — Mr James Corrigall wrote, for himself and on behalf of Mr IT. R Martin, regarding the rent of land held by them in block V, Lauder district. — The board, having no power to reduce the rents, resolved that if one year's rent in each
case was paid within one month from date, further time would be allowed for the payment of auotheryear'srent ; otherwise the leases would be forfeited. Glkkomaru. — A letter fiom Mrs C. Randall respecting sections 30, 31, and.,34, block IV, Glenomaiu district, recently held by her under perpetual lease, was referred to the ranger for a report. Tenants in Ajirear.— The Receiver of Land Hevenue forwarded a list of miscellaneous licenseholders in ai rears with their rent. — It was agreed to require P. Reid and others and G. Botting to pay the rer>t due by them w hin one month in order to escape forfeiture of their licenses ; and the license of A W. Pollard was declared lapsed for non-renewal by payment. Sundry Applications —The following applications were approved : — To complete purchase of deferred payment holding : William Journeaux, section 17, block IV, Gimmerburn. To transfer village homestead allotment : J. A. Rayne to D. Cairns, section 6a, Tahawai Settlement. To ■transfer land held under miscellaneous license : Ann Grant to John J. Ryan, part section 2, block VII, Waitahuna East. To exchange deferred payment license for lease in perpetuity : James Black, section 12, block IX, Maniototo district. .Woodland. — The boax - d resolved that it would favourably consider the application of Mr Joseph Bailey for leave to surrender his lease in perpetuity over section 13, block VI, Woodland district, on the half-year's rent now due being paid. — The surrender by Mr William Wilson of the lease in perpetuity over section 12, block VII, Woodland, was accepted, and the ranger was instructed to value the improvements aud suggest capital value. liOADLiNES.— A statement of proposed expenditure of "thirds" and "fourths" by the Bruce County Council was approved. Balclutha.— Consideiation was deferred of an application by Mr iGeorge Thomson for a renewal of his license to occupy the reserves above the traffic bridge, Balclutba. Valuation for Improvements —The receiver of land revenue was authorised to pay over the following amounts respectively leceived as valuation for improvements :— Section 86, Ardgowan estate, £8 13s (less £4 133 to be paid to the public account); section 105, Ardgowan estate, £27 16a ; section 260e, Lee Stream, £103 19s (£2O 5s to John Jl'Donald and £83 14b to George Nichol).
Rock and Pill vr.— Mr Wm. Hambly renewed his application for a license to occupy an area of about 13 acres of the mining rf serve, section 51, block I, Kock and Pillar district, and it was agreed to grant him, under clause 116 of the act, a yearly license over the aiea applied for at a rental Of 10s.
Tautuku.— An application by Mr F. S. Loring for section 32, block IV, Tautuku district, under lease in perpetuity, was approved at a capital value of 22s Gd per acre.
Fomahaka —It was resolved that sections 6, 7, and 21, block XIII, Pomahaka Downs estate, be withdrawn from sale.
