January 4. — The childien belosg'ufc io the Presbyterian Chmch here celebrated their usual picnic on Wednesday last on the be.ich at the mouth of the Otepopo River. They were con\eyul thither in all kinds of vehicles, such as drays, waggons, buggies, e'-.c, and were in most cases accompanied by their paients. A liberal supply of refreshments were handed round, ana all seemed to enjoy thenuelve=, and no wonder' considering tha beautiful weather that prevailed. The Rev. Mr Thomson <iul all in his power to promote. the success of the picnic. Young men and young maidens wtre present in goodly numbers, and after the fliitstions of Wednesday la'.t theie ought to be some more weddings. Weauier and Farm Work — A most beuc-ticial shower of rain fell here this morning, which will do immense good to the crops, grass and tui nil's if ifc only continues. Shearing is about completed, aud in a few weeks' harvest will be on us. Earthquake.— A rather severe earthauake was felt heie at about 12 20 a.m. on Monday.
