Pasquin, — The Bland Holt season commenced on Boxing Night at the Opera Hou*e ia Su'ton Vane's military drama "For England/ There was a crowded audiencs present, and tha piece passed off succe sfully. Miss Eileen O'Moore (Bessie Doyle) gave a concert at the Opera House last week, assisted by Miss Vartha (pianist), of your city ; Mr and Mra fteuiuald Coke (from Kagland), Miss Mabel Maxwell, and Tracey Hall (local). Ivei^t, the evangelist, who was sentenced to four y^ara' psnal servitude quite recently in Auckland, was at one time, a circus clown, f The Chri tchurch "Kinsy" Company, with the Hon. Townshend at the head, returned to Auckland last week and opened at the Agricultural Hall on Christmas 1 >ay. Miss Jessie Glover and Mr William M'-Kenzie contributed items to the programme. The Firm's " Sign of the Cross " Company are booked to open here on Februaty 21 at the Opera House.

Messrs John Fuller and company will-probably return to Auckland again about Easter time.

Mr Wybert, Reeve opened at the Hall on Boxins Night for a short season with his " kiiiey," ■with Miss Hope Nation assisting.

Captain Humphreys, at one time a lion-tamer and w»ll knowu in New Zealand, has been converted quite recently here in Auckland. Mr Humphreys occasionally gives an address at the Sunday evening meetings.

Mr Bland Holt has a peculiar liking for open* ing on Boxing Night in Auckland. Mr Holt has opened oa that date & number of times here. The Saturday night "paps" at the Hall are doing fairly good business. Mr P. Dawson, described as the champion dancer of the antipodes, appeared last v/eek. Mr Percy Dix held a musical festival at tha Opera Housa on Christmas Night. The Eileen O'Mooie Company left for the south on Thursday last. I'hyllis Perriev, the child mimic, appears at the Choral Hall for a short season. The season commenced on Boxing Night. Miss Mabel Maxwell, a young Auckland lady, has accepted an engagement from Miss Eileea O'Moore to tour the colonies. The Star says: "Miss O'Meore is convinced that Miss Maxwell ha=i an upper register which after careful training will prove to be phenmneual." A variety company opened at the Opera House on Christmas l£ve before a fairly good house. Messrs Burke, Skerrett, Ganz*. Misses Ida Scott, Hayes, and others formed the company. A horse n,imed Bland Holt won a high jump at a country meeting the other day. A violin recently used by M. Ovide Muam was offered for sale here last week. Pollard's Opera Company, which visits us later on, is sure to receive a great welcome on ths opening night. m _
