The weather was sultry for the holiday. There was a large attendance at Tatters-ill's meeting. '1 he G.trrin^ton Stakes was won by Loch Marie, with Sayles eecond and Wakawatta third. Thirty-right horst3 smarted. Bettiay: 3 to 1 ngst Loch Marie, 20 to 1 Wakawatea, 33 to 1 Saylea. Loch Marie wenb to the froufe at the distance, and after a fina fit iah won by a neck. Time, Imin lS^ec. January 3. Tatfcersall's Cup :— Old Clo' 1, Mirella 2, Insulator and Flodden (dead heat; 3. Thirteen started. Won by a length and a-quarter. Time, 3min 32 3 ssec. Melbourne, January I. The wfatherwas pleasant, buttbeat'endanca at Flemington to-day small. The Standish Handicap resulted thus : Embrasure 1, Ayishira 2, Sunbury 3. Seventeen started. Betting : ? to 2 agst Ophpline, 7 to 1 Ayrshire, 25 to 1 Embrasure. Won by a lecg+h and a-half. Time. Imin 18' ec. The Bagofc Handicap, one roilo and a-ha'if, was won by Mischief, ftith Battalion and Sortie as his nearest attendants. Seven started. Betting : 4to 1 agst Mischief, sto 1 Battalion, 6 to 1 Sortie. After a greab finish Mischief won by & head. Time, 2mia 39isec.
