Fat Cattle.— Only 102 head forward. The demaud was fairly active, and prices ruled about the tame as last week's. Beat bullocks brought from £8 to £9 15s ; ordinary do, £(i to £7 10s ; light do, £4 to £5 10s ; bf sb cows, £5 103 to £7 ; good do, £i to £5 ss. We sold 40 head as follows:—For Mr Uobeit Crawford ((jhelmaford), 14 prime bullocks at from £7 12s od to £9 153 ; Mrs Carmichael (Riverside), 11 prime bullocks at from £6 2s 6d to £7 15s; Mr James M'Urido (Temuka), 7 head steers and heifers at from £fi to £7 ss; Messrs Wilson and Scott (Waihol*), 4 co wa at from £1 10s to £(i; for other vendors, 4 head at quotations. , Fat Sheep —The number penned to day was n very small one — vi?., 39(5, but even this was sufficient for the demands of tho trade, and prices showed no improvement on rates current last sale day. Prime crossbred wethers (*horn) brought 8s 6d to lOd (one small pen extra prime to Hi 9d) ; best crossbred ewes (shorn), 73 6d to 9s ; ordinary do, 4s 6d to 7s; crossbred ewes (in wool), up to Us (id. Wo sold 131 as follows : For James Macaudrew (Portobello), a small draft very prims' crosbred. wethers (shorn, tho prize at Peninsula show) at lls 9d to Messrs T. Smith and Co. (South Dunedin) ; Messrs Dixon Bros. (Belmont), 80 crossbred ewes at 5s 9i to 7s ; Mr Richard Mitchell (Portobello), 30 crossbred ewes at 7s ; Messrs Wilson and Scott (Waihola), a small draft crossbred ewes to 93. Fat Lambs.— The number penned (694) proved just about enough for requirements, and good lambs sold well at from 9s 9d to tls. We sold 140 as follows :— For Mr J^mes Macandvew (Portobello), 30 prime at from Ss 3d to lls : Messrs Diclcson Bros. (Belmont), 39 at from 85 3d to 9s 9d ;• Me Richard Mitchell (Portobello), 20 at from 656 5 3d to 6s 6vl ; Mr W. Stubbs.(Miltou), 37 at from 7s 31 to 8> ; Messrs T. Lee (Highcliff) and Donald Gunn (Sandyroount), drafts at quotations. Pigs. — Only S9 were penned, and these sold at late rates. B<iconera brought from 37s to 4?s 6d, porkers 28s to 355, stores 21s to 2S?, suckers 12s to 13, Gd.

Wool. — This is now coming in very freely, and the quantity probably available for next sale will be large, although far short of the quantity offered at the corresponding sale last season. Since our sale on the 21st inst. we have sold a large number of the passed in lots at adv»nces on Ilie prices bid at auction.

yheepskins.— No sale was held on Tuesday, but we hold a Sile this afternoon, when we expect nrit'Oi to 1 ale firm, as f ellmongers' stocks are very light.

R.ihbitskics. — There is no change to report in this nunket. Our text sale will be held on the 6th January.

Hides.— -We cleared our consignments last week, when we obtained full prices fi r all forward. We quote : Prime heavy ox, 3Jd to 3}d ; medium, 2J.1 to 3d ; light and inferior, Jijd to 2*d. T.-llow. — Market still depressed, and sales, except at low price?, hard to effect. We quote : Best tendered mutton, 10j lo 12s ; extra good do, up to 13s ; medium do, 9s to 10s ; discoloured and inferior, 7s fid to 9s; rough fat, 7s lid to 10a per cwt.

Grain. — Wheat : There is still good inquiry for prime milling samples, and during the %reek we have disposed of several parcels at full rates. We have a special outlet for prime milling velvet and red chaff, and i-h-ill be glad to receive samples from vendor.". Fruit. — We receive consignments of all kinds of fruit and garden produce, which we sell either by auction or privately, as we think best in the interests of consignors, strawberries, 8d for Paxton's ; cherrie?. 7d to !)tl ; Sydnoy oranges, IPs plums, 4d to 4id ; apricots, s'l to (id ; pinei, 6* 6d per dozen : bananas, 2d to 2Jd per lb. Wheat —Market a bit lifeless, miller* having sonic good lines to work on, and holidays approaching. Prices lately quoted remain unchanged. Oat«.— There is a good demand for these at a price, but speculators aie not keen on giving the advance, as advices fjom Sydney give them no «ncouiagement ; auvway holders need fear no anxiety, as after the holidays a fresh turn may be expected of them. We quote : Prim« milling up to 2s ; good bright heavy feed, Is lid ; ordinary, Is 9d to Is 10d: Grass Seed.— During the past week we placed many thousands of bushels at a very'satisfactory price.
