CANTERBURY AGRICULTURE.
, (Faoar Our Own Coriikspondent. ) Chrtstcuurcii, December 28. The rains of December 16 and 26 made a great improvement in the later crcp?, some of which* have grown quite lffc higher during the last few day«, the ugh, being in ear before the rain came, the yields will be very light. Many attempts to harvest early ripened crops have been abandoned, and sheep tui'Ded on them for a few days' respite from starving. Grass, however, has improved since the rain, and rape, turnips, and potatoes have alno benefited, though a great deal more rain is needed to do lasting good. People are making guesses of the grain yield, putting the average for the province ab aU sorts of figures from 10 to 20 buaheU. I think 15 bushels will be very near tho wheat average. Fal lambs and fref zi»g wethers nell well, pork txbremely well, aud all other stock are deplorably dull.
