December 27. — Once more Christmas is a thing of tb.«* past. In this district the day had been locked forward to with no small amount of interest — especially by some of the gentler sex — for some weeks past. Mrs Heathcote and Miss -Macdonald had been most assiduous iv their efforts to organise a Ladies' Cricket Club to play 4he>r Hist match against the married men on. Christmas Day, and the outcome of theit efforts was a field of ten ladies, who faced and defeated eight married men. " lam sure fully 200 perspns 3uuet have been on the giouud duriug the after■noon; but from what I could hear there seemed to be great disappointment among some that the ladies did not wear the rational die?s. Without a doubt, the skirts seemed a bit awkward. I ••would e-trongly advise them to don the rational. The f-ame afternoon there was a match between the Warrio and Aparima clubs on the Fame ground, 'when our boys proved the victors. Some of the Aparimaites seemed to be too deeply interested in the ladies' game to pay sufficient attention to therown.

Agricultural — F>irm work seems almost at a stands* ill just now owing to the holidaj's, but I suppose we shall have to turn to with ienewe<i vigour next week I think all the shyaiing and turnip-sowing for this sensou is about finished now. I n&ver remember seeing the turnip-sowing so late. I think it must have betn the very unseasonable weather we have had that has caused the delay.
