SCHOOL VACATIONS.

SANDYMOUNT SCHOOL.

On Thursday last the Sandymouut School broke up for the holiday?. The teacher gave a short lesson on mental arithmet : c and grammar, which the children performed with great expedition aud accuracy. Songs were then sung by the children, and the chairman (Mr W. Robertson) complimented the teachers on their year's work and the progress made by the Bchool. The prizes were then awarded, and the holidays defined to be six clear weeks from the following Monday. The children thereafter gave cheera for the committee, the chairman, and the teachers. The following is tbe prize list :— Standard VlT.— Athol Robertson, dux. Standard VL- George Balsille, George Hutcheon, and William Stewart, 1 ; Ada Denton 2. Standard V.— Annie Aitken, Nellie Gunn, 1 ; Stanley Robertson, Donald Guun, and Jane Neil, 2.

Standard IV. — Kate Hutcheon, Christina Stewart, Bella Weir, and John M'Tainsh, 1; Kate Davis, Annie Dickisou, and Rosa Carvell, 2. Standard lll. —Mary L. Aitken, Margaret Arnott, and .Jean Stewart, 1 ; John M'Neil, Samuel Morris, R. Davis, Alice Dickison, Nellie Austin, and Annie Neil, 2.
