Ariel leaped over the prostrate horse 3, but his hoofs struck Libeller's jockey, No'an, fracturing his skull. Waitiri was first into the straight, but when fairly on the home stretch Nelson was let out, and was landed an easy winner by three lengths, Clogs a fair thiid, Lochiel fourth, ; Lady Norah, Derringer, Friendship, and Victoria following in that order. British Lion and Hilda were first into the straight, and at-the Dt'rby stand the latter looked like winning, 'but Lochiel' caught her at the lawn rails, and Mr -Stead's horse won by a length. British Lion was third two lengths away. At the home turn Mauton came down, dislodging his rider, and Nelson came on tohiskaees, interfering with Lochiel. Time, 3aiin -32sec.
