UPPER JUNCTION SCHOOL.

The annual break-up and presentation of prises tooi place on Thursday afternoon, when a large number of the parents and friends oF the children were present. Mr James McGregor (chairman) presided, and addresses were,given by the Mayor (Mr Duocan M'Gkegor) and BSr .Isaac Green, in the course at which they complimented Mr Simmers (head master) and Miss Turner (mistress) on tihe condition of the school. Mr John Evans (mayor-etect) wrote apologising for bis absence. During the afternoon several songs were sung by Ike children. The prizes, ef which the following is a list, were presented I by the Mayor and Mr Isaac Green ; — First prizes and first class certificates for good attendance— James M'Gregor, Nellie M'Gregor,' | Nora Brennan, Maggie Morton, Nellie Cleave. Cissy Paisley, Kva Sudden, Alex. P. M'Gregor, Lizzie Aitcheson, Maggie M'Gregor, George Herring, Caroline Brennan. Firafc prize for attend- ! ance— Pat Breonan. 1 Second pmes and second class certificates for attendance — Bertie Green, Joe Kropp, Katf Brenoan, Collius,. Joseph .Cleav«. becond priz-sa for attendance — Lily Lewis, Lizzie M'Gregor, Andrew Morton, Mary Brooks, Ruby Fitzpatrick. The cb airman's prize for the most popular girl— Elizabeth. Collins. ' Mr Arnold's prize for the moßt popular boyPeter M'Gregou. . " Dux of school (hsad matter's prize)— Ethel Jeffery.
