Baconers were not well represented, but the demand for this class is not' keen. Blackte (Glsugow fa--m), 7 at 27» 6d to S6s. Country Sales. — Maclean and Co. repopt having held their usual fortnightly" sale at Goomba's yards, Milton, on Tuesday. There was a good entry and a fair attendance, but business was slow and sales difficult to effect . Wethers sold up to 9s 10J, hoggets 8s 2(3, ewe<? and lambs 5s to 7s 6d.— Donald Reid and Co. held their usual monthly horse and stock sale at the Taieri saleyards, Allanton, on Tuesday, the 7th December, when they Bubmitted_ a. large entry of cattle, some £00 crossbred ewes with lambs at foot, and several draught and light harness horses. There was a good attendance of farmers and grazier*, but owing to scarcity of grass the competition was not keen, and several pens had to bs turned out, prices not being up to owners' values Wellgrown forward bullocks, suitable for finishing on gras", were in request, and any of this class could be placed at full market rates. Young cattle, calves, and yearlings were not saleable, except at very low prices. Three-year-old steer 3 sold at £3 to £3 14s, dry cows £2 15s to £3 10s, young c»ttle 15s to 20s. Dairy cows met a slow sale ; 17 were placed at from £3 2s 6d to £.U7»6J. Draught horses (aged) sold at to £10. No demand for hacks. — Dalgety and Co. (Limited) report having held a sale of store cattle at Wedderburn on Friday, the 3rd inst., when they yarded and sold 150 head of mixed cattle. There was a fair attendance of settlers, but bidding was by no means brisk, and the prices realised were quite in keeping with the present condition of the store cattle market. Three and four-year-old steers brought £3 lO<, two-year-old do £2 12s 6d, do heifers £2 i% to-£2 10s, yearlings £1 14s. They also held their monthly sale at l*almarston on Tuesday, the 7th inst. There was a very small entry, and as farmers were busy shearing the attendance was also small. Cattle were almost unsaleable, and for those that did change hands very low prices had to be accepted.

Sheepskin*. — Heavy catalogues were submitted en Tuesday, but under good bidding all lots were cleared at very sa'isfactory prices and quite up to late rates.

Rabbitskins. — Offerings on Monday were small, but eager buyers took everything before them, at very full values. Hides. — All lots coming forward find a ready outlet at late rates, which need not be repeated. Tallow and Fat —If well saved and in good condition, rough fat meets ready sale at 8s 6d to 103 6d; tallow. 11s to 14s. Grain. — Wheat has had steady inquiry, and prime lots are easily placed at 4a 4d to 4a fid, according to kind. Fowls' wheat ia in fair demand at 2s 6d to 3s 6d. according to quality.

Oats : Some, unexpected orders have tended to firm the market, and business has been done during thep*st few days at Is 10d to 2i for prime milling, and. It S.Vd to Is 9Jd for shipping lines. Potatoes.— The new crop being now offered freely old ones ara hardly worth quoting, and sell at a nominal price per bag.

Chaff.— Prime quality is the only kind inquired for, and sells at £3 53 to £3 10a. Medium 'cannot" be placed even at small money. /
