Notes from Wakatipu. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
Arrowtown, December 4.— The clean-up for November at the Glenrock battery, Macstown. resulted in a yield of 37f Joz smelted gold from 460 tons crudhed, equivalent to 16iwT; to the ton. In consequence of a spur wheel' breaking on Monday morning last there will be a stoppage of several days uutil a new casting can be procured from Dunodin. The stone in the mine still holds good, though the average for the prea«nt falls a little below that of last month.
Ltvst aeasou there was a very geucr&l want of water, and mining suffered on that account. This season it is going to be the reverse— there will be too much wet.
The exceedingly w<jt weather of tbe past four or six weeks has fillad the swamps and cretks to such au extant that the larger riveis are likely to keep at a high level for iouio time to come. In addition there has been snow on the hills to some little depth, which will add its quota to the total drainage, and dredgers will have a trying tjme of it for a while to come. So far there is no sign of the weather taking up.
