STODD ART'S ENGLISH TEAM. Brisbane, November 30.

The Eugli-htnen began a match against Eighteen of Toowoomba to-day. The visitors batted first, and lost eight wickets for 104 runs. Hearno (25) and Hayward (24, -not out) were the chief ecorers. Stoddarfc and Maclaren were not playing, and Ranjitsinhji captained the Englishmen. The wicket was of concrete, with a matting covering. The ball rose dangerously. Cuffe, a leffchanded bowler with a beautiful delivery, played havoc, and Ilanjitsiubji was dismissed without scoring. Seven wicket 3 were down for 72, when Hayward made p. presentable stand and brought the century up, but shortly after lost his partner, Board.

In the inarch between Sfcoddart's English team and Eighteen of Toowoomba, Hay ward and Wainwright made a fine stand and treated the spectators to an excellent display. Hayward was nicely taken in the s!ips, and tDuffe gave Wainwright his quietus with a beauty. Tho Englishmen were all out for 197. Hay-wat-d (G8) and Wainwright (45) were the chief scorers. —

Toowoomba lost 10 wickets for 204 runs. The chief scores were made by Thomas (85), Cuffe (20), Robinson (not out, 32). Thomas fairly beat the bowling, banging ifc all over the place. He knocked up his score, which included ten 4's and one 5, in 65 minutes. With his dismissal the wickets fell rapidly until the ninth

wickeb, when Robidsoixand Cuffa made, a good stand, both playing lively oiickeb. December 2. The Toowoomba innings cloied with 13 wickets for 243. Robinson, who played excellent cricket, increased his score to 47. England in the second innings lost four wickets for 115, Druce (34) and Hirat (not out 42) being the chief scorer*. The match was drawn. Stdnby, December 3. The English cricketers began a match against Twenty-two of Tamworfch to-day, with the stipulation that only 13 men should field. At 1 o'clock heavy rain set in, and by 3 o'clock the matting wicket was soddened. The English batted firsb. Ranjitsinbji was unable to play owing to an attack of quinsy. The innings closed for 141. W&inwrignfc (16), Stoddarfc (38), and Maclaren (30/" were the highest} scorers. December 5. The Tamworth match was abandoned without further play, owing to the heavy rain. The Englishmen have agreed to play another matoh on Monday. Raujitsinhji is improving. December 6. The extra matoh against the Armidale fvrenly-bwo was abandoned owing to rain after the local team had lost four wickets fof 34 runs. Ranjitsinbji is confined to his room. Thire is some probability of his not being sufficiently recovered to play in the test match. ■ "
