The pair then came on from Mousme to the distance, when Florio Rubattino challenged on the whip hand and quickly drew to the fore. Before reaching the bend both Asterie and Acmena were in trouble, and resigned to Prime Minister, Harvest Money, and Carlton Grange, of whom the last named assumed the command at the distance. In the meanwhile Jaquetnart resolutely challenged Carlton Grange opposite the staud. The pair now made a good gap from the others, but Carlton OJranee held his own, and won by three-parts of a leDglh. Time, 3min 33 3 ssec.

Galtee More and St. Cloud II were in front for a few strides, and then Goletta settled down, followed at clear intervals by St. Cloud 11, Galtee More, Silver Fox, and Chelandry. The pace was very slow from the outset, and had not improved when, in climbing the hill, Goletta increased her command to three or four lengths. Galtee More continued to go on third at a similar interval, and, with the others now keeping clo.<e company, Silver Fox, was for the most part slightly in the j ■rear.- The gaps were reduced at-the-JRed House, and with the sie%m turned on half a mile from home Galtee More came round at the bend with Goletta, while Sfc. Cloud II continued to head the others. Before reaching the distance Goletla had given way, and Galtee More then assuming the command, he wjis challenged on the left by St. Cloud II »nd Silver Fox, from whom he did not seem capable of quite breaking away. Soon afterwauls Chelandry changed sides, and as she shot up on the right plenty of excitemeot was imparted to the finish, in which Galtee More won by three parts of » length front Chelandry ; a neck divided second and third and a head the third and fourth. Goletta was laat, beaten five or s'x lengths. Time, 3min 31 l-ssec. Value of the stakes, £5425. ,
