THE MIDLAND RAILWAY.

Christchuisch, September 27.

At a meeting of the joint committees of the Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Association, to-night it was resolved — " That this conference is of opinion that the delay in the completion of the West Coaßt railway is very unsatisfactory, and that as the Government has proceeded with the construction 'from Jackson's and the Midland Railway Company has recognised the action of the Government and paid the cost of such construction, this conference urges that the work should proceed much more rapidly than at present from Otarama. as well as from Jackson's." The conference decided to forward the resolution to all members of both Houses, and to ask the Christchurch members to call a meeting of all mem-

bers interested. It was also' decided to ask the co-operation of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association and Railway League .
