TECHNICAL EDUCATION. Auckland, September 21.

A special committee appointed by the Edacation Board met to consider and report on the memorial of the Auckland Technical Association as to the necessity of an increased Government grant for technical education. After discussion the following resolutions were adopted :— 11 1. Your committee recommend that education boards should be empowered to take control of technical education upon the condition that the Government provide sufficient funds for the game.

"2. Your committee recommend that the capitation grant named in section 5 of " The Manual and Elementary Instruction Act, 1895, ' 'should ba increased, the present; scale being wholly inadequate. "3.
