(a) Mr Lee evidently believes in this move notwithstanding the fact that authority is against it. (6) This move also is considered bad in theory, but Mr Lee played the same move in the OtagoO^maru match, and probably can give a reason for the faith that is in him. (c) This move also was played by Mr Lee in tbe same match, but on that occasion its object was manifest. (d) On both Bides too much time is given to the pawns, but in this matter the Oamaru player ia the greater sinner and presently ha 3to suffer for his sin. (c) This hardly seems advisable. B-Q 2 or some other developing move was surely to be preferred. (f) There may be good reasons for making this move, but they are not apparent. White's position is now decidedly inferior to Black's, and consequently gopl moves are scarce. Pe>hap>< 22 XtK4 wkh a view to Kt-Q B 5 might have turned out better— the idea being either to block tbe long diagonal to the dangerous bishop or get rid of 0-ie of the bishop 3by exchanging. From this point White's p nation is untenable againßt fairly good play, aud Black plays the rest of the game exceedingly well j
