THE GRAIN AND SEED REPORT.

Messrs Samuel Onn and Co., Stafford street, Teport for the week ending September 22 as follows : —

Beauliful growing weather all over, with fine showew in Oamaru and Timaru districts, refreshing pastures and bringiug away grain wonderfully. '• Oatf.— These are practically in tbe same position this week as for the past few, there being no animation, and consequent's' in advance in pi ices. A fair busiuess is doing coastwise, as also to •Sydney, but you cannot place a good-sized live, ■even by breaking price-, consequently the market is being quietly fe \, and properly too. We quote : Prune milling and seed line?, 2s 2d to 2s 6d; bright heavy feel, Is Ud to 2s; ordinary, Is lOd to Is lOi.l. Wlseat.— Pi ices in London are sti'l improving, and the total advancn in London in 10 weeks is equal to 1b 5 1 per bushel. This has had its effect ou the Australian mai k«tf , as well as our own, and it is f.»ir to assume that growers of this — the cereal of the world — have a Rroat future bafore them for next year's crop. When wheat and wool ' give good returns, then is a c-ilony likt? ours brimming with prosperily. We quote : Prime milling Tuscan and velvet, up to 4s tj-Vd ; ordinary, 4s to 4s 3d ; fowls' feed, 3s to 3-> 7d. Barley. — The market is still open .for- good malting quality, and we would advit-e farmers to sow some- it is not too late for it—to the exclusion of oats.- We have an outlet for a very large quantity, and at payable prices to growers. Chaff.— Bei-t selling up to £3 17s 61 ; ordinary, £3 to £3 10s ; inferior, £>. ]0->. Point <es.— Southern, £i to £2. 10s; northerns up to £2 17s 6d. Seeds.— A good few sales of heavy lines of ryegrass and cocksfoot taking place, while clovers are alto selling well. Turnip seeds arc r.l>-n Parting to move, but piices are firmer than last year. We solicit farmers and others sending f"r our samples and quotations.
