Dear Sirs, — I have the pleasure of advising you that 1 gained for your exhibit the following awards— viz. : Special first gold medal for shawls, special first gold medal for rugs. At an inquest at Christ-church on Friday, before Mr R. Beetham, coroner, on Frederick C. White, a destitute old man, who died at the Samaritan Home, tbe evidence showed that there was no roam in the Charitable Aid Board Home, aud that the man had been refused admission at a private home. The police had shown great kindness, and kept the man till the Samaritan Home took him. The jury found the cause of death to' be pneumonia, and after some deliberation added the following ridert : — " 1. The action of Mrs laetjt, Mrs Fanning, the police authorities, aud the Samaritan Home is to b* highly commended." 2. " That it be strongly recammended to the .Charitable Aid Board to make arrangements with the police for the temporary treatment of urgent oases which mxXi come uuder (heir notice©"
