* , • I .have to , acknowledge receipt of the annual report of the committee of the Auckland Amateur-" Athletic and Cjole Club. The report congratulates the club" oh having won the coveted banner of. the NZ A.A A., and' the statement of accounts shows that the v c(ah has cash in the bank to the amount of £320, of ■which ifc is proposed to Bet £200 apart as the nucleus of a fund for acquiring a ground, on foe such other purpose as may be found advisable.
• . ■ A mooting of the committee of the Dunedio Amateur Athletic Club was held in the Ounedin Cycling Club's room on the 16th insr. ; present — Messrs P. J. NofiS (in the ohair), W. A. Low, J. B. Niehol, F. Harley, D. Duncan, W. J. Bark, «nd T. R. Mackay (hon. secretary). Apologies for non-attendance were received from Mr James Allen, M.H.R., Dr Roberts, Messrs G. L. DenDi'ston, C. B. Grierfion, and E. L. Macaasey. The secretary was instructed 'to write to the New Zealand Amateur Atbletis Association representing that the Championship meeting should be held in the South Island iv accordance with tbe rule. A sub-committee was appointed to take the necessary steps in connection with the holdiog of a Wednesday afternoon sports meeting at in oarly date. A letter was received from the Labour rjporfcs Committee granting amateurs two races on their prof rjvmaie — viz , 220 yds and Half-mile Flat. Advice was reoeived that Mr Gilbert J. O'Hara, of Matakanui, has. been reinstated an amateur. ' * . - A. J. Patrick, the 100 yds ehompion of the colony, has informed the Wellington Athletic Club that be cannot go to Sydney for the Championship meeting, as he went out of training on feinting that he- had not been chosen in the New Zealand tweun.
• . • The passengers by the Westraliaf or Sydney inc'uded the Auckland competitors for the Australasian Championship meeting — W. H.\ Martin., Hori Eruera, D. ' Wilson, arid James M'Lpan, — who were accompanied by Mr J. Marshall, president of the A.A.A.0., and'tm» members of the Auckland club. A-niong the passengers were also Mr P. Solie, of Chriafchuccli, representing the New Zealand ' Amateur Athlelio Association, and Mr A. H. Holder, the celtbrated .hurdler of , Wanganui, who ropre«ents New Zealand in the sprint! and hurrita IrAces.1 rAces.
