REVENUE RETURNS.
A comparative return of the value of tha - customs duties for the quarters ended June 30, ! 1897 and 1896, is :—
i The Postal revenue for the quarter was : — At Auckland, £7997 ;at Chrißtchurch, £6096 ; at Dunedin, £5386 ; at Wellington, £9522. The total for the colony was £54,450 as against £52,770 for the corresponding quarter of last year. The Telegraph revenue was : — At Auckland, £7528 ; at Ohristchurch, £5518 ; at Dunedin, £5550 ; at Wellington, £7418. The total for the colony was £39,390 compared with £37,054 i for the corresponding period last year. The Registrar-general has issued a comparison of the customs and excise revenue for the three years 1894, 1895, and 1896, which showp '. the following results: — j 1594. 1895. 1896. !
