ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. (Per United Press association.)

Christchurch, July 28. The principal feature of to-day's xtock market at Addingtou was another large yarding of sheep. All other classes were poorly represented a* to numbers, and the only department in which life was shown was in the pig pens. The attendance was an average one, but there were evidently more onlookers than buyers. The entries were 10,665 sheep, 239 cattle, and 299 piss. uf 154 head of cattle which formed the beef supply, only 100 were offered by auction, and a number were passed in. The bulk of the entry was second-quality stuff, and bidding was very slack, steeis brought £5 to £S : heifeis, £3 2s 6d to £5 12s (id ; cows, £3 2s 6i to £5 7s 6d. The prices per 1001b are without alteration — viz , 16s to 17s 6d for prime beef, 12s 6d to 15s for cows and secondary sorts. Fat Sheep. — The heavy entry in the fat pens contained a great many half-finished sorts and a good deal of ewe mutton, with a few very fair lines of freezers. Buyers for export were not operating freely, owing to the scarcity of freights and the unsatisfactory news from Home, and this class was decidedly easier. Butchers' sheep were considerably in excess of requirements and were also easier, numbers being passed. Freezers brought 15s to l6s 6d ; maiden ewes, 12s 6d to 14s 6d ; butchers' ewes and half-finished ewes and wetheiv, 9s to lls ; medium ewes, 7s fdto B<s 9d : marino wethers, 6s 8d to lls 3d ; and ewes, 4s 6d to 6s 7d. A small entry of pigs included 20 Yorkshires from Sunnyside Asylum, which, although rather ou the large Ride, were sold at 50s to 525, and all the others sold well at from 3Jd to 4d per lb. B.iconers brought 30a to 52a, porkers 19s to 20s, good btores 13s to 18a, and weaners 6s 6d to 8s 6d.
