NEW ZEALAND CURLING PROVINCE.
St. Bathans, July 12. The following are the rules of the New Zealand Curling Province : — 1. The province, to which is attached the I various curling clubs in New Zealand affiliated to the Royal Caledonian Club, bhall be known as " The New Zealand Curlin? Province." , 2. The constitution of the province shall consist of a president and a secretary and treasurer, together with a representative from each affiliated club, known as the annual representative member ; thrtc representatives to form a quorum. I 3. The annual representative member of a club shall bo appointed at the club's anuual meeting, i but should it be found that the member so 1 appointed cannot attend a meeting of the province, it shall be competent for ihe dub to appoint a substitute under written authority, 1 signed by the president or secretary of such cluo, [ but each club must be represented by one of its i own members. _ i 4. The annual meeting of the province shall take place on the last Wednesday in the month of , June in each year, the time to be notified to all I clubs and representative members by the secretary not less than seven days before. j 5 The secretary shall, prior to the annual meeti ing of the province, obtain from all clubs their fees and reports, in order that a general report ■ may be arranged, but any club not having paid to ■ the secretary its regular annual fees cannot be represented. 0. The president and the secretary and treisurer shall be elected at each annual meeting of the province, but the same president shall not hold office for more than two consecutive years. He shall preside, but have a " casting vote " only, and should he be absent from a meeting the representative members present shall by vote appoint a chairman for that meeting from among their number, the chairman so elected to have a deliberative and also a "casting vote." 7. The duties of the province shall be to discuss all matters in connection with curling ; to act a3 a medium between its clubs and the Royal Caledonian Curling Club; to encourage the game and assist in promoting harmony and esprit dc corps among the several clubb ; to allot trophies, etc., for competition ; and to arbitrate on any matter in dispute whui requested to do so. 8. All matters submitted to the province by one or more clubs, or any club member, for its adjudicition must be notified to the secretary at least seven days before the annual meeting. If, however, the business be urgent 14 days notice must be given, thus allowing time for a special meeting to be called ; but should the business appertain to a dispute between clubs or players, the province will not deal with it unless it is brought forward within one year from the elate of its origin. 9. Each new club must be proposed and seconded for affiliatiou at the annual or any spscial meeting of the province. 10. At the annual meeting of the province a levy not exceeding 10s ou each club shall be made upon all i:lubs towards expenses in connection with the province. 11. The business of the province shall be conducted in accordance with rule 8 (chapter 2 of Annual), and the province generally shall, with foregoing exceptions, be governed by the rules of the Royal Caledonian Club, in as far aB they can I J>e adopted locally. f
