NEW BRIDGE OVER THE KAWARAU.

THE OPENING FUNCTION. (J&\bom Que Own Cghhespoitoekt . ) Gromwet/l, July 10. The new Macandrew bridge over the Kawarau at Bannockburn was opened yesterday. Mr Sheppard, chairman of the Vincent County Council, drove the last rivet and rechristened the bridge. Most of the county councillors were present, and also members of the Lake Council and the mayor and councillors from Cromwell. The county councillors and officials drove across the bridge in a coach and aiz. A number of toasts were given. The Bannockburn Band was in attendance. Refreshments of all kinds were provided by the Celebration Committee, and several hundreds of the public were present. The proceedings passed off spl«adidly. _________^___
