Mr R. V. Johnston, the master and owner, has a store at Awanui, and traded in the Mairs, which had a crew of two men and one female passenger. Auckland, July 9.—lt is now stated that only two persons are missing with the auxiliary boat Mavis—namely, Captain Johnston and young J. T. Gary, who came lately from America as one of the TJnited Brotherhood party by the American brigantine Freed Edward, which arrived at Fiji lately from San Francisco, and .who left the vessel at Fiji and came on to Auckland. The s.s. ; Ngunguru has returned to Mongonui again. She reports that she did not see the derelict'cuttev. Owing to the rough weather her crew were unable j to examine or land on the islands off tho coast to ascertain the fate of the crew of the cutter. Auckland, July 12.—The auxiliary cutter Mavis, which'was supposed to be the boat found floating bottom upwards off Karakara lasfe week, ■ arrived safely at Awanui on Sunday morning. j
