ROUGH RIDGE.

June 15. — The weather, as usual, at this time of year is rather wintry. The neighbouring hills are all covered with snow, and Jack Frost reigns supreme. A very short spell of the present kind of weather and curling and skating will take the place of mining. Educational.— The long continuous spell of dry weather has been the means of keepiug our roads in good order, thereby enabling most of the children to attend school, the average for the present quarter being about 44. Change.— l hear on the best authority that the farm of Lewis Bros., of Blackstope, has changed hands, the purchaser being Mr William. Marshall, of this district. Sympathetic.— Residents of this district are sincere in their sympathy for Mr Peter Howard in the painful accident which befell him a short while ago at the rear of the old Hamiltons road. Mr Howard was a resident of this part for a number of yeara, and wben he left he carried with him the good wishes of all who knew him. Much sympathy is felt for Mrs Howard and family in their sore trouble. Mr Howard still lies in the Naseby Hospital, where, under the skilful treatment of Dr Church, it is to be hoped his recovery will be sure and speedy.
