£20,000 WOULD NOT TEMPT HIM.

A. DIAMOND DIGGEE'S REMARKABLE STATEMENT IN SOUTH AFRICA. HE CONFIRMS HIS ASSERTIONS BEFORE A J.P. RHEUMATISM POSTIVELY CURED. One of our representatives, while on a visit to Kimberley recently, had an interesting interview with Mr H. C. T. Fischer, of that town, which may be of interest to our readers. Mr Fischer for years was a gold-digger, prospector, and diamond-digger in and around Kimberley. Naturally during all these years Mr Fischer had been leading a life of hardship and exposure. Often for days at a time he was wet to the skin, and he has on more than one occasion been without food or shelter of any kind. It is not to be wondered at, therefore, that Mr Fischer at last fell a prey to rheumatism, and that terrible malady, when it had entered

tils system, took so strong a hold on him as to make Iris life one long period Df misery. Dr William s's Pink Pills, however, have now thoroughly cured him, as will be seen from the following statement -which Mr Fischer, for the benefit o£ his suffering fellow-creatures, and out of gratitude for the marvellous benefits he has received from the medicine, made to our representative :—": — " It 'Is now about ten years ago since I first began to suffer. At first the rheumatism used to afflict me for only a few ■weeks at a time, and then would leave me, but whenever I got wet I was always certain of an attack. The disease gradually got worse and worse, until in 1895, when i was living at Klerksdorp, 1 was taken very badly with it, and was compelled to give up •work. I consulted doctors and used every conceivable medicine, but still I got worse and worse. I became so bad that I could not bear to be touched, and so terribly weak wnß l that I could not even lift myself in the bed to take refreshments, but had to be gently raised and then lowered again. Every movement gave me intense agony. The pain extended through my arms, shoulders, spine, thighs, knees, and ankles ; in fact, 1 was one mass of pain. So bad was I that I often used to shout with agony. My head conj stantly ached, I could neither eat nor sleep, and when from exhaustion 1 did fall into a dose I never lost the terrible pain, and my dreams were horrible. sTou can imagine how bad I was when my wife had constantly to attend nic and could never leave the house. I cannot think it possible that any man can ever have suffered more than I did. If anyone offered me .£20,000 to go through the same agony again that I

experienced during those eight months, I would say, ' No, keep your money I prefer to b,e as I am.' At last, after consulting any number of doctors and using all the medicines possible to think .of, a friend of mine, Mr Wilhelrn Kruger, who is a farmer living at Klerksdorp district, recommended me to try Dr Williams's Pink Pills, as they had thoroughly cured him. 1 took his advice, and am now reaping the benefit of it. The first box of the Pills, although it by no means cured me, made me feel so much better that I could get about on crutches, and I therefore decided to continue the remedy. The second box had a marvellous effect. I was able to throw my crutches away, but as I still -felt a little shaky on the legs 1 used a stick to get about with. To make the cure positively certain I took a few more boxes of Pills, and after their use I was able to get about as if I had never been ill. Since then I have never had a day's illness, and although I have been out in all sorts of weather, and have been soaked to the skin many and many a time, I have never had the slightest return of the rheumatism." When asked by our representative whether he was absolutely certain that it was Dr Willianis's Pink Pills that cured him and nothing else, Mr Fischer replied : "I am certain that it was the Pills alone that saved my life, and not only have they cured me, but they have been of marvellous benefit to my little daughter also. She is 11 years old, and used to be troubled with rheumatism terribly. She could not walk, and her head troubled her a great deal. She could also neither eat nor sleep', and used to lie in bed crying with pain. When Dr Williams's Pink Pills cured me I determined that I would use them for her also. The result is that now she is as well and strong as* a child could be, and plays all day long as happy and bright as possible." Mr Fischer's declaration before D. J. Haarhoff, Esq., J.P., M.L.A. : "I, Henry Charles Thomas Fischer, of Thompson street, Ivirnberley, solemnly and sincerely declare that the statements contained above concerning the miraculous manner in which I was cured of chronic rheumatism by Dr Williams's Pink Pills for Pale People are the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. 1 have given the account of my case freely and at ray own request, hoping that by making the facts known other sufferers may benefit by my experience. H. C. T. Fisciiek. " Declared at Kimberley the 21st day of January, 1897, before me " D. J. Haabhoit, J.P."
