THE GRAIN AND SEED REPORT.

Messrs Samuel Orr and Co., Stafford street, report for the week ending June 2 as follows :—: — Since last reporting the fine weather came to a very abrupt termination on Friday, severe winter setting in at once ; and from the Southern Alps downwards the hills have now got their winter coat.' In Canterbury and North Otago rain was much needed, as it had partly stopped all ploughing. Oats.—The market is as firm as ever, and prices hardened with it, but they aie now getting to a dangerous pitch, and we wo>sld advise holders to be cautious We quote prime bright heavy sparrowbills and Sutherlands up to 2s sd; good heavy feed, 2s 4d : ordinary, 2s 3d ; and for heed qualities, 2s (id to 2s 9d. Barley.—Sales are still made at recent prices by us, and seemingly no alteration in demand. Chaff.—This has now started to advance, apd as higb :ib £3 17s t> I is obtainable for very choice quality. Potatoes are a bit fit mer, but nothing much, and £3 5s is top for those grown north of Dunedin. The northern markets are much firmer than ours.
