Wellington, May 3.

The morning down train from Wairarapa ran off the rails iv the hills two miles north of Kaitoke. A special had to be sent from the Upper Hutt to bring them on to town. Tbe accident happened through some of the rails, on which the platelaj ers had been at work, being loose. There were three passenger carriages, and all went off the line, the engine remaining fast. One of them wbs badly smashed, and the passengers got out through the. roof. Most of the people on board were severely shaken, hut apparently no one was seriously hart, except one woman, whose shoulder was dislocated.
