The Review of. Reviews hai entered its seveuth year, and in tbo April number Mr Stead gives some interesting rerainiscortc^s of the start of the periodical and particulars of its fulHequrnt career. With * circulation o£ 220, 000, Mr Stead claims that the Review *b prsatnc forms part of the regular reading oS 1,000,000 persons. This seems » very large number, but when the way in which a magazine of this description passes from hand to hand and from family to family is taken into account it i 3 probably well within the limit. The Review during ifcs seven years' carear has lost none of its virility. It is as live a magazine to-day as it was at the start, and a much more presentable one. The change mede at the beginning of the year has remedied the fault previously co noticeable of bad printing and poor paper, and the magazine will now in this respect compare favourably with any of its contemporaries ; while rs regards variety of matter it leaves ail hopelessly in arrear. It is claimed to be the only successful magazine which excludes fiction from its columns. In the current number, "The Sketch of her Majesty the Queen and her Reign " is continued, her Majesty haying bestowed upon her the appropriate though unique title of " Editor of the Realm." Mr Fitchetfe continues his eDgrossingly interesting series of sketches "Fights for the Flag," George II at Detfcingon being dealt with. " The History oE the Month in Caricature " is perhaps one of the most interesting features of thiß magazine. Comparatively few people have an . opportunity cf seeing even the leading illustrated comia papers of all nations, but this department ab least gives readers an idea of the style oC illustrations dealt with by each. " The Book of the Month " is " Nansen's Farthest North," and an excellent map of the arctic regions gives tha reader an excellent opportunity of studying the route taken by the intrepid explorer.
