Converter plant: Working continuously with one vessel ; 422 tons of blister copper shipped to date. Weather: Variable. A cablegram leceived says :—": —" From 12th March to Bth April inclusive a total quantity of 3939 tons of ore has bsen treated in two furnace? (each running l!)i days, work having been interrupted by the half-j early clean-up of by products and tbe relaying of the through trams), resulting in a total approximate weight of 246 tons of converter matte containing copper, 136 tons; silver, 12,650 oz; gold, 00-lou. The average assay value of ore before treatment being—Copper, 3 G2 par cent.; ' silver, 2'960i5 per ton ; gold, Q'ISJoz per ton. Up to date (April 17) a total quantity of 552 tons of blister copper has been shipped." Mr A. G. Fenwick handa us the following | information refcai cling the return published in tha above paragraph :— Taking the value of copper at £47 per ton, silver and gold at 2s 4id and £i par ounce respectively, the results give, after deducting charges, an approximate set profit of 20d per ton of ore treated.
