EXPERIMENT TO BE TRIED AT CLYDEVALB. ! Mr A. C. Begg writes under Thursday's ! date : " I enclose opy of reply received trom the secretary of the Department of Agriculture to my letter in reference to rabbit destruction. It is satisfactory to find tha'j steps are now I being taken to thoroughly test the new system in this colony." The following is a copy of the letter referreJ to:— Department of Agriculture, Wc-llingtou, New Zealand, April 12, 1597. Dear Sir,— l have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the Bth inst. re chicken cholera, for the detraction of Habbits. We have been iv communication with the Queensland department on the subject, and they have jiiHt informed us that Mr Pound's lateat experiments have been even more successful than his first. Mr Gilruth gave the matter his attention when in Paris, and also in Queensland, and is now busy cultivating a supply of the microbes. Mr Brydone has kincily given us permission to try an experiment at (Jlydevale, and Mr Gilruth hopes to make a start in a we,ek or two.
