He Didn't Spill it In the Saucer.
A prominonb business man, who i* noted alike for his fastidiousness aod his iraecioilifcy, is in the habit of dropping iubo a certain retitaurrtnb every forenoon lor a cup of coffee. The waiter, who has attended to his wants for about a week, being a new baud, is a little clumsy at the bu;inec», and in bringing the gentloman hii cup of coffee neatly alwajs manages to s^ill some of it in the saucer. One day, on giving his order, the gentleman exclaimed : '"Look here, my friend, if you manage to bring me a cup of coffee without spilling seme of it in the saucer I will give you a shilling." The waiter retired without a word, and in a few second? re-entered carrying tho cup in one hand aud the saucer in the other, and, putting down first one and then the other before the fastidious customer,- gravely picked up the shilling and retired.
