QUESTIONS NOT TO BE REPLIED TO. Quite, a number of member.-) arc anxioun to have questions put to the Government, bub Mr Seddon has expressed a'determination no1; to answer them. There is likely to bo a skirmish over this. THE MEMBER FOR WALLACE. As I previously intim>.t:d, there in some talk of objection being offured to Mr Gilfedder taking his seat, as it; is alleged he is disquilitltid through having bean in receipt of p.ib ie money aa a teacher at the t'rm of his election. THE SPBAXERSHIP OF THE COUNCIL. The Hon. Mr Miller's term of office nob expiring till July 14-, there will be no need to el-^cb a Speskar of tho Upper House during the present as^ion. A bill will be brought in during thepr^s-inl. session 'o provide that in c-iFe of fcho term of office of a Speaker of the Council expiring during a recess, as will be the case ia the present instance, he shall hold office until 14 days after the beginning of the session following. BELLAMY'S. Tb>; question has arisen as to whether Bellamy's shall be kept open for Ihs sale of alcoholic liquors during the present' Parliament. According to theacr. this is tob 1) decided on the fourth Tuesday following the Address-in-Reply in the first session of each new Parliament. No vote cu> betaken, as there is no probability of there bsing a fourth Tuesday this sesiion, and so the sale of liquor will presumably continue until the new Parliament votes on the subject. THE PREMIER'S DEPARTURE. Tho Hon. Ml- Seddon, accompanied by his wife and Miss Seddon, will now in all probability leavß for Auckland ou the 15th, to catch the Sin Francisco mail steamer, sailing thencs on the -17th. THE MOUNTED CONTINGENT. There is a growing feeling tint the vote for the volunteer contingent will not be sanctioned by Parliament. Mr Atkinson at one of his meetings last night fchua referred to the mafcier : " The Premier ought to go Horne—ifcea proper that ha should go ; but this fawdry bizarre proposal about taking a bodyguard is a ridiculous arid a preposterous thing." THS WAIOTO3IO OAVES Photographs of the Waiofcomo Cavee, near Otorohanga, in the Waikato, are to be taken by order of ihe Government, who have als > given instructions for the preparation of a description of their beauties. <» ■ ■■ ■
