Fat Cattle. — 182 head were yarded, including extra prime bullocks from Waiinea and The Firs. The majority of the yarding was, however, of ordinary quality only, and a good many light weights. Excepting for best pens the demand was slack. Prime beef brought close on 20s per 1001b ; i medium, 15? to 17s 61. We sold 62 head as follows : For Mr Johu Bruce (The Firs), 2 extra prime bullocks (heavy) at £10 153, 6 prime steers at £7 12s (3d ; New Zealand Agricultural Compans', Limited (Waiinea), 7 very prime bullocks, say. 1 at £10 10s, 1 at £LO, 3 at £9 sa, 2 at £8 12d 6, also 3 aged cows at £5 10s; Mr James R. Elder (Oaklaads), 17 nice quality steers and heifers (light) at up to £5 17s 6d ; Messrs E. Rollins (Mihiwaka), James Kiog, James Matheson, H. Keenan, D. Davidson, John Beattie, L. D Robertson, James Ktrklaud, O. Eraser, C. King, and others, 27 head at quotations. Fat Sheep.— 2ol9 penned. Prime crossbred wethers for export were in good request, and sold at from 12s to 13s, but the demand for ordiuary sheep was not bo strong; extra prime ewe 3 aold up to 103 6d. Wo told as follows: For Mr Charles Gilmore (Greenbank), 60 very prime crossbred wethers at 12s 9il and 40 prime crossbred ewes at 10s ; Mr Edward Menlove (Windsor Paik), 123 small halfbred wetheivi at up to 9? (3d ; Colonel Chalmers (Mount Lintdfo). 180 halfbred wethers at from &s 9d to 10s Gd ; Mr John Goli^htly (Purakanui), 78 crossbied ewes at up to 8s 3d. Fat Lambs.- 732 penned, and where they were of suitable quality for freezing they met with brisk competition at slightly-enhanced values. We sold 269 as follow :— For Mr J. Karetai, 9 extra prime at 12s 61, 8 at 9s 6d ; Mr James Miller (Saddle Hill), 12 atlOs 9d ; Messis Dickson Bros. (Belmont), 102 at 103 3d. and 52 at 9s 6d ; Mr Lyall (Wendon), 35 at 9s 6d, and 40 at 7s 6d to 7s 9d : Mr John Golightly, 9 at 5s 9d. Pigs.— l 27 penned, mostly grown stores and porkers. The few bacon pigs forward commanded extreme rates. Porkers, too, sold well, but stores were not in quite such good demand, still they brought full prices. We sold 116 as follow: — Bacon pigs, 14 at from 40s to 43s ; porkers. 38 at from 21s to 28s ; stores, 86 at from 15s to 22« 6i. Store Cat&le.— Business in this class stock quiet at present. Store Sheep.— Demand for forward crossbred wethers, for youcg breeding ewes (crossbreds), and for lambs continues good. There is also some inquiry for " boilers." Value 3 are without chanse. During the week we have sold privately 8300 crossbred sheep and lambs at quotations. Sheepskins.— There was spirited competition for all classes of Bkins at our sals on Tuesday, and prices were quite on a par with those ruling last week. We quote : Green crossbreds, Is 9d to 23 6d ; extra good, 2s 9d • do lamb 3, Is 9d to 2a 4d ; dry crossbreds (best), 3s 8d to 53 3d ; do medium, 2s Id to 3s 3d ; do pelts, 6d to Is 6d ; dry merinos (best), 2s 9d to 3s lOd ; do medium, Is 6d to 2s 6i ; do pelts (small or damaged), 3d to Is each. Rabbitskins. — We submitted large catalogue ou Monday. Bidding was very brisk, and prices ' decidedly firmer.!

Hides.—We held our fortnightly sale to-day, and cleared all forward at satisfactory price.*. We quote : Primest heavy ox, 3Jd to 3J.1; good do, 3d to 3Jd ; medium, 2id to 2Jd ; light and infeiior, lsd to 2d per lb. Tallow.—ilarke f shows no change, and all forward is readily placed at—for best rendered mutton, 14s 6i to 15d b\l; medium do, 13s 6d to 14s ; rough fat, 8j lolls pt;r ewt. Grain. —Wheat: Tins market shows less animation, and although we have transacted a steady business during the week late prices are more dillicult to obtain. We quote: Prime southern Tuscan and red torts, 3s lljd to 4s; good do. 3s 10id to 3s lid ; fair to medium, 3s 9rt to 3s 10d ; velvets, ljd to 2id more ; whole chick, 3s 3d to 3s 6d per bushel. Oats. —The quantity offering for sale has been simll, farmers preferring to store meantime, consequently the demand hus been exceedingly good, und all linen offered have been readily taken up at following quotations. We have placed a "failquantity during the week, and could sell a large number of sacks for immediate delivery. We quote: Prime milling (Sutherlands), 2-5 to2s Id ; Rood to best feed, Is lcid to Is Ud ; medium do, Is 9id to Is 10ii ; seed Tartars and duns, 2s Id to 2s 3d per bushel (sacks extra, net). Barley has good inquiry, and some good sales have been made by us during the week. Bright plump, well-threshed graiu is somewhat scarce and much wanted. We quots : Prime malting, 3s 9d to 4s ; good, 3<i 3d to 3s 6d ; feed and milling, 2s 3d to 2s 7d per bushel (sacks extra, net). Chaff. — The market during the week has been bare, aud pr'css in consequence have risen slightly. We quote : Prime oaten sheaf, £3 2s 6d to £3 53 ; extra up to 70.-». Note —We hold heavy stocks of primest agricultural seeds, wire, standards, sheep smd rabbit netting, and all farm and station requisites, and can quote low prices.

The Mutual Agency Company of New Zeaiand (Limited) report: — A heavy yarding of good to prime beef at Burnoide this week caused a too appreciable drop in prices; and although sales opsned fairly well, competition towards the oloss became dull anct lifeless, and but for the assistance of Taieri friends prices would have been bad indeed. In sheep the demand was equal to the supply, and all lots found buyers at full lates, the competition 1 in some cases being very good. Lambs were in fair supply, and for any prime lots bidding was very brisk, and prices showed a distinct advance on late rates. Fat Cattle.—We sold for Mr Geo. Ruthveu (Mosgtel), 2 bullocks at M 15s; Mr"D. Sutherland. Lochend (per Otago Farmers' Associatiou), 2 bullocks at £7 7s 6d, 3 cows and heifers to .£5 ; Mrs James Brown (Arkleston), 6 bullocks to £6 ,2s 6d; Messrs R. Carruthers and D. Carruthers (Muungatua), 5 head at market ratei. Fat Sheeo.—We sold : For Mr John Reid (T'jlderolie), 62 crossbred ewes to 10s 6d; a northern client, (52 crossbred Wetliers and maiden ewes to 12s; Mr H. Palmer (Otikia), 54 do to 9s 6d; a southern client, 26 crossbred ewes at 10-* 3'i ; Mr D. Wilson (Flag Swamp), 28 wethers and maiden ewes to 9i 6d ; a northern client, 19 wethers and ewes at 7s ; Mr J. Dalziel (Shag Valley), 1 pen at 8s 3d 1 Lambs. —We s^ld : For a client, 1 pen at 12s ; ' Mr J. Spark (Waikoikoi), 08 to 9i; MrD M'Leod (Bushy), 65 at 10s ; Mr D. Wilson (Flag Swamp), 2 pens to 10s 9d ; Mr J. Dalziel (Shag Valley), 2 pens to 8s 9d ; a northern client, 3 pens to 10s rid. Pigs. —We sold a draft of suckers at market rales. Sheepskins. —The usual sales contiaue to be well attended by the trade. Competition was good this week, and catalogues were speedily cleared at full rates for all clas-es. Grain and Produce. —Our usual weekly report, i published on Tuesday, gives all information, and we can ouly add that prices remain firm and bu?iness is not difficult to do at late quotations. Country Sales. —We held our usual monthly sale at Palmerston on Tuesday. The.entry was a fairly large one, and farmers being keen for business the sale was a good one, and all lots . offered were cleared at satisfactory prices, and the sale all round was the mo3t successful held here for some months. We will hold a sale of stock, in conjunction with the Otago Fanners' Co-operative Association, at Mr Lindsay's form, Allanton, on Thursday, 22nd inst. Full particulars in future
