Notes from Wakatipu. (From Our Own Correspondent.!

Aruowtown, April 3.— The clean- up at the Achilles mine for the last fortnight was 5730z smelted gold from 461 tons of quartz, making a total for the month of March of 10490z f rom 856 tons, the value of the gold being £4039. The return is really for the first four weeks of last month, fortnightly clean-ups having been decided upon. It must also be taken into consideration that for the first fortnight one-half of the stampers had to be hung up for the want of water, so that this return is not quite a representative one. However, the prospects of the mine are Huch that lOOOoz and upwards p3r month may be aafely counted on for some years to come.
