LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Land Board, held on Wednesday afternoon, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner) H. .Clark, J. Duncan, W. Dallas, and J. M'Kerrow. Blacks. — The Under-secretary for Lands wrote i intimatingthat the BlacksCommouage Committee desired to be relieved of the management of the j common. — Letter received and noted. Alexandra. — The board approved of the amended valuation (£2 2s) of the improvements upon section 2, block XXV, town of Alexandra. Wakekield. — Williitu Perrin applied for a license to occupy section 2, block IV, Wakefield district.— Granted under section 11€ of act at 3l)s per acre, with license fee £1 Is. Rankleburn.— James Dawson requested the board te reconsider his application for an occupation lease over four acres of the mining reserve, section 27, block VI, Rankleburn district. —Yearly license granted, under section 116 of the act, over the four acres applied for and three acres already fenced in at 7s 6 i (read to boundary shed being reserved), with licence fee £1 Is. ' Payments Authorised. — The board authoiised i the receiver of land revenue te pay over the amounts received as. valuation for improvements as follows :— Run 206f, Maniototo, £10 10s ; section 2, bleck IV, Kakanui di-trict, £122 4s ; Run 334b, Wanaka, £554 19s 6.i ; Run 36'2b, Waitaki, ; £100 ; and Run 20lin, Maniototo, £10. New Surveys.— Plans of new surveys were submitted by the chief surveyor, and dealt with as follows : — Block VI, Naseby district— Section 1, 266 acres, James M'Donald to be allowed to acquire on lease in perpetuity at capital value of 18s 9d per acre ; section 2, 270 acres, to be acquired by Mrs M'Cartby on lease in perpetuity at ißs 9d capital value ; section 3, 307 acres, to be acquired by Mrs Mary Allison on lease in perpetuity at 18a 9d capital value ; section 4. 312 acres, to be acquired by Mrs Sarah Packman on lease in perpetuity at 18s 9d capital value ; section 5, 206 acres, to be acquired by Robert Hosie on lease in perpetuity at 18s 9J capital ■value : sections 6 and 10, gravel reserves ; section 12, 100 acres, already granted to Robert Home under occupation lease ; sections 13. 14, and 15, forest reserve. Block VII, Naseby district—Section 30, 36 acres, J. T. Francis to arquire on lease in perpetuity at 15s 6d per acre capital value ; Stction 31, 233 acres, John Lahe to acquire at ISs 6d per acre capital value ; sections 32 and 33, 431 acres, J. Caldwell to_ acquire at 15s 6d per acre capital value ; sections 34 and 35, gravel reserves. Block I, Mauiototo district— Section 21, gravel reserve; section 25, 180 acres, Airs Sarah Fleming to acquire on lease in perpetuity at 188 91 capital value ; section 26, 118 acres, deferred. Ardgowan.— The board declined to grant permission to James Gibbons to cut down mx gum trees from the plantation reserve, Ardgowan estate. Akatore. — An application by Noah Hardwick for a coal lease over 18 acres, part of section 23, block I, Akatore, was referred to Ranger Hughan for report. Small Grazing Runs.— The following applications tor small grazing runs were approved : — Catherine Kirkpatrick, sections 2 and 3, block XI, and 21 and 22, block 111, Gimmerburu district , Catherine S. Charters, section 2, block V, Gimmerburn. The board allowed George Perry to withdraw his application to surrender small grazing Run £25h, Blackstope. Miscellaneous. — Applications for pastoral licenses approved :— Thauias Lester, Run 335 a.
Long3lip : and Alexander M. M'Donald, sections, block VIII, and section 1, block IX, Waihemo. The surrender by Agnes Elstone of section 90, Maerewhenua estate, was accepted. Applications to transfer were approved as follows :—: — Interest of S. M'Gregor to his co-lessee Thomas Cochrane of section SS, Maerewheuua estate ; section 16, block VI. Rock and Pillar, from Owen Laverty to William Hally. . Naseby.— Ezekiel Mawhinney applied to exchanga temporary pastoral lease of section 13, block X, Naseby, for lease iv perpetuity.—Consideration adjourned for further information. Berwick.— Ranger Hughan reported upon an application by Charles Robinson for a license to occupy about one acre in the town of Berwick. — Granted at a rental of 20j. with license fee. Waipori.— The board having con^ideied the report of the ranger upon the subject, declined the application of the Education Board to have the areas lying betwten Karl.sion and Greenlaw streets aud the Waipori River set aside for school purposes.
John Griffin, contractor, were sunk in the Ngaruroro River. Mr Griffin estimates his loss at £200. The hospital returns for the past week are : Remaining from previous week, 92: admitted during the week, 25 ; discharged, 16 : deaths (Jessie Coutts, Joseph Berland, and Leonard William Styles), 3 ; total remaining in the institution, 98.
