SALE OF WARRINGTON YEARLINGS.

The annual sale of thoroughbred colts and fillies bred by the Hon. G. M'Lean at the Warrington stud farm was conducted on Fri« day by Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. in the presence of a coniiderable number of gentlemen interested in the turf. Tho only lot for which there was any aotive bidding was the brown filly by St. Clair — Mistral, whioh was certainly the piok of the catalogue for racing purposes. The first bid was one of 20gs from* stranger, whereupon a local trainer ' stepped into the ring and offered 30gi, "if he had to borrow the money." Another trainer, not to be outdone, exo) aimed, " I'll give 40gs, if I hat« got to borrow the money." The competition went on actively until 80ge was reached, and then the bidding suddenly stopped, the filly falling to Mr James Moore. The St. Clair— Lady Gertrude filly, a big, commanding, half>ister to Euroo'ydon, was much admired, but no one would go beyond B0g» for her, and at the reserve was not reaohed the lot was pasted in. The following lot* were also submitted under the hammer : — Brown colt, by St. Clair—* Lady Florence, purchased* by Mr Murray Hobbs at 50gs ; bay filly, by St. Clair — Indolence, knocked down to Mr 0.- Kennedy at 15gs ; bay filly, by St. Clair — Legerdemain, passed in; chestnut colt, by St. CUir — Firtflr, by Gorton, sold to Mr A. Kennedy at 15gs. Be»donweH'« sister, by St. Clair — Dione, ' was privately purchased before the sale by Mr Mercer for lOOgs. Several other lots were offered, including Woolwich, this horse being, bought by a purchaser from the Maniototo distriot for llgs.
