Armenians, and also with such examples befoM M as Lady Henry Somerset and Miss Willard each woman who has time and ability should lend a helping hand. We are always being confronted by some heartrending sppctacle. Tidings of fellow-creatures in distress are ever being borne to our ears. Besides the Armenians we have now the starving Indians— a horror which is almost beyond thinking about. Even with a generous people like those of New Zealand it is a dreary thing waiting for subicriptions to come in. The long-headed business ability of the Salvation Army has a lot to recommend it. What if we copied their self-denial week once a year ? Let bur young ladies go out and collect, though the donations did not exceed a shilling from each one; it would bs little missed by the humblest. IE gone into with spirit, I fancy it would give us a fund to fall back upon in such case?. Of course this is only a humble suggestion. Whenever we aie roused to generous action (as we assuredly shall be) in extending sympathy and, help to those suffering Armenians and Indians we are fast hastening the time When man to man the warld o'er Shall brithers be and a' that, oi 1 , as Tennyson puts it, the " federation of tht world."— l am, &c, Christine R.
