Young led for the greater part of the way, and at the end of the mile Hall wai second, and Shor'aod third. Just before the straight w^as reached M'K'nzie was in the rear of Bhbrland, with Scott and Arndt among a bunch behiod him. Coming down the straight M'Kenzie passed the leaders, and won with a little to spare from Scott, Arndt being a good third. Time, 3min 53 3-ssec. Three-milb Test Race (D.C C. v. 0.C.C.).— Three riders a-sidp, for the Dresden Piano Company's Challenge Shield, value £25. The team scoring the least number of points to wiu. , 'I he event was won by Maxwell, Boot, and Sullivan, ■who represented the Dunedin Cycling Club, their opponents being Ezsers, Maw, and Crawford. The winners made 22 points, as against 41 made by the O.C.C. representives. This is the second time this year that the D.C.G. have won the shield, Bell, Ralston, and Minn winning it at the l»9t O.C.C. sports. If the same club w.n it twice .next year the shield becomes their absolute property. The prizes were presented by Dr Roberts Mft smoke concert; iv the evening. A musical
