The Tipperary battery was cleaned- up on the 27th ult. after 292 tons had been put through, yielding 740z sinelttid gold, or about sdwt per ton, which is a payable result. Better stone is known to exist under foot, and is being opened out. I The Glen rock Company cleaned up after crush- [ ing lfiO lons for 430z smelted, gold, which also is ' payable, with, every promise v-f the sfcone improving. December 7. The correct return of the trial crushing from the Garibaldi mine was five tons crushed for 2oz l-sdwt, or an average of 9dwtperton. This return is I a very satisfactory one, seeing that tho stono was token from wall to wall of the lode, which averages 10ft wide. AN OTAGO SYNDICATE. A syndicate has been formed in London called the Otago Syndicate, and their colonial headquarters are located in Dunedin. They are prepared to treat for mining and other properties. Sir W. B. Perceval is the managing director, and the other members of the «yndicatp are influential men in London. M<- It. Hay has been appointed manager and consulting eugineer for tha colonies. Captain Craddock and Mr Feilding. A.R S.M., members of the syndicate, are interesting themselves on behalf of its affairs in the colony. ROXBURGH AMALGAMATED MINING AND SLUICING COMPANY (LIMITED). The manager of the Roxburgh Amalgamated Mining and Sluicing Company (Limited) reports having washed up for hist month for 760/. 15dwt. THE MOUNT LYE L MINING AND'RAILWAY COMPANY (LIMITED). Mr A. G. Steam engine mounted, flooring in progress, getting iv supply of coke and matte for starting. Weather, fair. Superintendingrailway engineer reports:—Racklayiog: This is proceeding so satinfactorily that I trust to advise by the end of next week of its entire completion. ' By telegraph, November 19>— -Rack-laying has been completed to-day, and is in complete working order. WARDEN'S COURT. A sitting of the Warden's' Court was held on Friday before Mr E. H. Carew, warden, when the following business was dealt With :— David Cameron Simson and Henry Poper applied for a special claim of 100 acres, blocks XI and XII, Nwuth.-rn district, lying between section 3, bluek XI, and section 7, block XII —Mr Calvort appeared for the applicants.— There was no objection to the application, which was adjourned pending survey. David Cameron Simson (for whom Mr Calvert appeared) app.ied for a special claim of 60 acres, sections 6 and 7, block XI, Nenthorn district. — The application was refused. David Cameron Simeon also applied for a special site for machinery on block XI, Nfinthorn district, on the western bank of the Taiori Kiver, near Barewood railway ctation, and between sections 6 and 7 and the river. Thera beiug no objection to the application, it was granutd. E. R. Smith applied for a machine site in one acre of land adj.iiuing section 7, block XII, Nenthorn district.— There was no objection to the application, which was" granted. John Peterson (for whom Mr John Mouat appeared) applied for protection for four months for water rßce, Deep Stream.— The application was adjourned till January 8, 18&7. Michael Casey (for whom Mr Mouat also appeared) applied for a special claim, 180 chains by 12J chains, Deep Stream, opposite section 19. block II Mount Hyde district.— Adjourned till January 8, 1897. John W. Roberts applied for a special claim of about 40 acres at Doep Stream, adjoining the special claim held by J. M. Wilkinson. —Recommended for approval. Gsorge Morio n applied for a special claim cf 40 acres at Deep Stream, adjoining the area applied for by J. W. Roberts.— Rt commended for approval. A nuniber of other applications were called on and adjourned until January 8, 1897. DREDGING RETURNS. The Secretary of the Clyde Dredging Company reports a return for the last week of Sloz ldwt 9gr. Mr Thomas Callender reports 370z lldwt 6gr retorted gold from the Sew Hoy Big Beich Gold Mining Company (Limited) for the past week. Mr Reeves reports that the Enterprise dredge washed up 30oz 9dwt 17gr gold for last week. The Dunedin > Stock Exchange reports the following returns for last week :— Golden Treasure Dredging Company, 4ijoz ; Otago Dredging Company, 18Joz; Golden Gate DiVvigicg Company, 420z Ifiriwt. The Upper Waipori Alluvial Gold Dredging Company (Limited) obtained from No. 1 dredge 13oz 17dwt of gold for 122 hours' dredging, and from No. 2 dredge 19oz of gold for 137 hours' dredging last week. The Jutland Flat (Waipori) Gold Mining Company (Limited) obtained 530z Bdwt of gold for 144 hours' wages time— l 29 hours actual dredging— last week. DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. Saturday's Quotations.
