Auckland, November 30. Dear Pasquin,— Alfred Woods opens to-night at the Opera House in " Hands Across the Sea," with five or six other draws to follow. Delohery, Craydon, and Holland's Elite Variety Company are doing the country districts at Oorornandel. They aie appearing to packed houses nightly. Alhert Lucas's harbour concert on the 23rd was fairly well patronised. The company included Miss Fitzmaurice (phnisfc), Miss Alice Leslie, J. L. Collins, Vernon, Smith, GataU Shaw, and Newconibe. A private letter from America states that Evelyn Harte and Jack Hamilton (l«*te of the New ZsaUnd Tivoli Company) are doing very well at some of the large music halls there. Harry Thomas, with his U.S. Christy Miuutrela (all male performers), played at the Opera House on Friday and Saturday to fair houses. Messrs Johnuy Collins, Jerry fcJhaw, Geo. Barry Thomas, Morton Prior, and Charlie Naylor formed the company. Tho Rev. Haskett Smith lectured to very fair audiences duriug the week at the City Hall, and left iv the Muripcsa on the 28th for 'Frisco. Chas. Cooper's limelight concert entitled " Our Candidates Under the X Rays of Limelight," with graphic delineations by a proinioent prussman. assisted by Miss Carrie Knight, Robin Hay, jR. H. Buttery, Alex. Smith, and Morton Prior, did fair business. | John Fuller and his concert company are doing the country districts. The Fuller family is composed of John Fuller (tenor), Lydia Fuller j (soprano and elocutionist), Ben Fnller (limelight j delineator and humourist), Walter Fuller (organist, pianist, and a clever composer), Master - Jobn Fuller (limelight operator and programme boy), znd Miss H. Fuller (vocalist) Sir Fuller's greyhound dog also assists by running rotiod the 3treets with au advertisement on his back. So few put in an appearance it the benefit tendered to Jimmy Anderson (known as Leonard the Gymnast) at the Oity Hall on Saturday that the money was returned and no performance given. Miss Maggie Moore passed through in the Mari--,/osa on Saturday bound for America. Mr S. Adams's pupils' annual orchestral and chamber conceit will be held at the Choral Hall on December 16. Au 'lcland Liedevtafel hold a grand smoke concert in the Cook street Hall on Friday, December 4. j Atdlle Antoinette Trebelli opens at the Cbor*l Hall on Monday, the7fh insfc., assisted by Mr John Prouse, Signor Salvini, <fco. Mails Tr-jboJli iB at present resting at Roturua.. ' Mr John Fuller takes a grand complimentary farewell concert at the City Hall on Friday, the 11th iust., assisted by local talent. Mr Fuller is leaving for Australia via tho south, and appears in Wellington at ChrJsHnas time. A son of Mr James Wiseman, of Auckland, has composed a march entitled "The Ak»rana March," which is said to be a bright and spirited composition. Mr Wiseman, jun.', is in Victoria. The Auckland Liederkranz's (ladies) second concert has boeu postponed to December 7 on account of the general election. The Auckland Choral Society's sixth concert will be hold oji Tuesday, December 1. Miss Ada Yates, Hen Zimmerman, Miss Crowthur, aud Mr Wilfred M&nning will assist. Auckland Bad jo. Guitar, and Mandolin Club's third concert promises to be a success. ' On Friday the Auckland Burns Olub held a concert and dance to commemorate St. Andrew's Day. There was a large attendance. ' It is stated that Mr Harry Baxter was married to Miss Amy Vaughan last week. Mr Charles Cooper, the well-known limelight operator, was for many years foreman of the bookbinding department at tbe Star Office, Auckland. It is ■whispered that a well-known local brewer is thinking of building a large theatre in Auckland. Auckland .people want to know if the City Council are g- owing the wood to build the new town hall iv Upper Queen street. The Auckland Amateur Opera Club intend rehearsing another bright and sparkling opera at an early date for their uext season at the Opera House.
