ONE-TREE POINT.

December I.— Mr J. Sinclair addressed the Kennington electors on Monday of last week, and was very favourably received. Mr R. Coupland presided, and made a happy-going chairman. The candidate spoke with freedom and lucidness for two hours, and interspersed his politics with gems of humour. On the motion of Mr C. Douglas, seconded by Mr J. Harper, a vote of thanks and .confidence was accorded the candidate. Some individual proposed a counter vote, but this was howled down by the audience. T Awakux.— The Hon. Mr Ward addressed a large meeting at Myross on Wednesday at 6 o'clock. Although a busy time of day for farmers all Myross attended, and learned more practical politics than they Mr A. Kinioss presided. Mr Ward spun a good yarn, and was heartily applauded, throughout. He favoured a scheme for straightening the Waihopai from Kennington to lnvercargill, and promised Government assistance. On the motion of MiHenderson, seconded by Mr Miller (Hedgehope), a vote of thanks and confidence was paiscd amidst cheering. Mr Marshall (all the way from the West Coast) made a few complimentary remarks, and after the meeting the Hon. J. G., the chairman, and "your own" were eutertaiued by Mr J. Miller, the popular teacher, to a sumptuous spread^ and at 8.30 war was opened on Roelyn. Expecting a large assemblage the Roslyn folks fitted up and artistically decorated the hall (instead of the school), but only half of the crowd could enter. Mr Ward received quite an ovation, and was showered with bouquets on ascending the platform. He touched on all political topics, not forgetting the "Morniog Buster." A stream of humour ran though his political oration, and outbursts of laughter from his admiring audience often brought the spcikcr to a standstill. Mr Ward promised to have the approach to the One-tree Point siding improved Upon at once, and room made for a few extra trucks. Mr W. Fleming asked a few quasi>pritic»l questions, but was completely floor.*! by the able speaker amidst much mvrriineut. On the motion of Mr G. Beechy a vote of thanks and confidence was given the candidate, aud confidence expres-ed in the Government A hostile motion by Mr Fleming was rer eived with hissiug, and cheers for the Hon. Mr Ward closed a record meeting for Roslyn. ■Matauka.— Mr Robert M'Nab had a capital meeting at Woodlands on Tuesday, and roved his large audience to a high state of enthusiasm. The pantomime, at' the close was worth 6d of any man's tnoney to witness. The usual vote 3 wer*- passed on the motion of Mr C. Bigwood. At Mabel on Wednesday Mr .M'Nab was doubly successful, much enthusiasm being evinced and expressions Of confidence made. At Brunswick on Thursday he gave one ef the ablest addresses he can be Credited with having ever delivered. Mr T. Evans presided, and at the close a vote of thanks and (confidence and confidence in the Government was passed unanimously.
