CANTERBURY AGRICULTURAL.
(Fjrom Ouk Own Coerespondent.) Ohbistchubch, December 1. Genial showers on Sunday and yesterday did much good where they fell, which was only on parts of the plains and on the hills. In the latter the weather has been showery for some -weeks, and shearing is making slow progress. On the plains a good, soaking rain would be welcome, as the ground , is very hard, and the cold, dcy winds are retarding the growth of vegetation. . Be Cheviot, an Otago man who has been looking out for a farm there for the last two months has just concluded to purchase the goodwill of a 100-acre block, paying £150 premium, besides all improvements. "Occasional Correspondent" backed down considerably last week, bufj his statements are still either dead and buried history or inventions or suppositions or beside the question, and you shall have, as I promised, facts and figures which will prove this. Wheat has seen good business during the last few days, several large lines in merchants' and growers' hands, having been sold. Those still holding ask 4s 9d to 5s on trucks (whore stored), town or country.
