SENIOR CUP. Carisbrook A v. Dunedin,

This fixture was commenced on the Caledonian ground on Saturday last, Duuediu going in first to bat. The first three wickets fell for 9 runs, but on Croxford partnering Kiuvig a most determined stand was made. Both batsmen treated the bowling with scant courtesy, and it was not till the score stood at 92 that a separation wns effected, Croxford being run out in attempting a seventh run. His score included seven 3's and four 2's. Kinvig was out seventh with the score at 100, and included in his 49 were one 6, one 4, and»ixs's. The innings terminated shortly afterwards for 120, Claffey carrying out his bat for 10. Hope was the most *uccesiful of the Carisbrook trundlers, but Fiaher wag not bowling up to his form. The fielding of tho Cariebrook was very loose, several easy chtnceu of catching befog badly missed. Having an hour and a-half to play the Cariabrook Bent in Fisher and Ruttray, but with the score at 11 Fisher was bowled by Latham. Rattray and Liggins took the score to 38 before the Curisbrook captain was beaten by Latham for 11. On Borton joining Liggins both batsmen scored very freely, and a separation was not made until the score had reached 83, Borton being bowled by Latham, for a very nica contribution of 28. Total for five wickets 83 Grange v. Cabisbkook B. This match was started at Carisbrook under perfect conditions. Carisbrook B winning the toss, of course went in, and shoal;! have rnada more than they did on such a good wicket. Morice and Thomson made a short stand, and when 26 was reached the former was caught, and retired for a well-got 19 Burt joined Thomson, and between them they curried tho score to 43. Fivo minutes later saw Thomson bowled by Parker, after carefully compiling 17. • Haynea joined J. Harraway, who carried the score to 63, but in trying to lift. Downes he was caught by Restieaux after a quickly-jtob 13. The rests of the wickets fell very' rapidly, Parker bowling excellently, and Haynes carrjiog out his bat for 11. Tho innings thus closed for 79. Parker and Johnston startd against the Harraway brothers, and at 12 the farmer was clean bowled by J. Harraway. Dowues came next, and quickly carried the score to 27, when Johnston was caught .by Morice off a bumpy one. Best joined Downes, who soon gol< to work, and put on the tuns at a great rate, carrying the score to 63, when the lavter was given out lbw. Ten runs later saw Beat splendidly caught by Kingston, and Lawrence w&s run oat. Then Mauley and Haydon became associated, and these two playing good cricket carried the 6core from 95 to 124, when time was cilled, The following are the scores :—: —

Opoho v. Albion. This match was commenced on the North ground, and so far Opoho has a slight advantage on the first inning*. M'Lean won the tois, and took the field, Maodonald and Black going first to the wickets, opposed to the bowling of Wells and Gunthorpe. At 16 Black was caught in the slips off Wells, and Alexander took h s place, but with only a few runs added was smartly stumped by Kilgour. Tnrnbull was next man, and play became very slow, until with the score at 37 Macdonald was bowled by Wells. Robertson came in. but soon lost Turnbull, who was caught off Webb. Williams joined Robertson, and play was a little more lively, until Robertson drove a ball to long-off, and was caoght. The remaining batsmen were boob disposed of, all being out with the score at 69. Wells had the good average of six wickets for 23. Opoho theu^went in to bat, but their innings started very badly. Gooch played the third ball on to hit leg, whence it rebounded into his wicket. M'Keczie was caught, both Hendry and Kilgour played on to their wicket, and Gunthorpe was clean bowled, five wickets being down at this stage for 23 runs. Welts ana Shea then came to the .rescue, each playing, well, and took the score to 58 before Wells retired, being caught for 18. Shea was soon after bowled, with a yorker, having 22 to his credit.
