Messrs sMoritzson and Hopkin, Dunedin, report (wholesale) as follows for week ending 1 November 25, 1896. All quotations subject to market fluctuations :— • We would ask farmers when sending samples always tp put a price on them, as buyers do not 'feel inclined to make offers. < Grain.— We liave jnst returned from a trip round the country, and find that the crops, owing to the backward Be&son, will be fully » month later in being harvested this year. Wheat.— We have big iuquiry. We quote : Best velvet, 4* 6d to 4s lOd ; best '1 uscans, 4s 4d to 4s 8d ; red chaff, 4s 2d to 4s 8d ; fowls' wheat, \ 3s 2d to 4s. Oats: Prime milling, 2s lid ;* bright short feed, 2s to 2i Id— good inquiry. Barley : Feed sorts are quoted. 2a 2d to 2s 4d ; malting, from 3a 6d to 3s 9d. Rye corn, 2f> 9d. Flour : We quote £12. Oatmeal id 25's, j£ll. Pearl barley, £10 103. Bran, £3 10.1. Pollard, M 53. Nelson hops <ire j quoted at lOJd. Potatoes : Derwente, prone I northern, £4 15s to £6. Chaff : Good quality, well-cut oaten sheaf, 555; medium, 42s 6d to 478 6d. Ryegra«s : Farmers' lots, 2s to 2s lOd ; machined, 3s 3d to 4s (no sale). vStocks in Dunedin are heavy, end there is none selling. We have tried everything to move stocks, but it is 'of no avail. Cocksfoot, 4d to 4}d for farmers' lots, and 4id to 5d for machined ; demand fallen off. Linteed, £9. Pressed ttraw, 25^-. Olovm hay, £2 12s 6d to £2 15s. Nitrate of soda, £15. Kainit. £5. Basic slag, £5. Clovers, rape, <fee, jubt landing. We can offer all classes | of steds pure and fresh. Rabbitskins are still in good demand, but there are not many coming forward. We quote : Autumns, 5Jd to 9d; prime winters, IGld to J2§d ; blacks. lOd to 13Jd. Sheepskins.— We havo to report having held our sale on Tuesday, when there was a full' attendance of buyers, and spirited bidding. AYe quote : Butchers' green crosibrede, 3s Id to 6s6d ; dry crossbred*, 2s 5d to 5s 6d ; meriuo, green, Is 6d to 4s id • dry merinos, 2s 3d to 3s 6d ; medium do, -Is od to 2s. Hides.— lid to 3Jd, according to weight and condition. Tallow.— Rough fat, 10s to 123 6d ; rendered, 13s to 16s. . Horsehair. Is to Is 3£d. Wool.— We are pleased to report that latest cables from Home report the market rules very firm, and prices show an upward tendency. Australian advices are also very encouraging, prices in some instances being fully equal to lant season's. The first of the local sales will be held here on December 17. We have already received j several small clips, and will offer a good catalogue for this sale. Advances made on the coming clip at 6 per cent, per annum. ' FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT. j Butter : Prime salt, 6d to 6Jd per lb. All cases must bear the Govetnme&t brand. Cheese : Gocd Akaroa, 3|d to ' 4d ; factory, 4d to 4id. Pigs : 3Jd for good quality. Poultry received for sale any days but Saturdays. Roosters, 4k 6d tc 4s 9d ; hens, 3s ; ducks, 4s 6d to ss. Beeswax Is Id, according to quality. Fruit. — We receive consignments of all kinds of fruit and garden produce, which we sell either by auction or privately, as we think beat in the interests of consignors.
