The first crushing of the Talisman mine ah Karangahake realised £1461 from 285 tons of stone, which is' at the rate of £5 2s 6d per ton* This adds another to the list of bullion producers secured' by English capitalists. September 9. An offer has been received and accepted by Mr E. H. Browne, of Wairoa South, by a gold proßpecting syndicate, who propose to prove and float his property on the English market. The property is situated on the Marilai line of reef. A deposit has been paid, and prospecting will be proceeded with immediately. Mr EL. J. Greenslaw paid over to the owners of the properties included in the Waitekauri Amalgamated Gold Mining Company the purchase money, running into several thousands of pounds. A satisfactory offer for the Waihi Welcome property has been made by a Johannesburg syndicate. The offer includes a considerable sum to be spent in developing the works. ' The sum of £500 has been oabled out by the Kuaotunu Gold Mining Company to Messrs John Chamber and Son as a second instalment on account of the purchase of the property. faeptember 10. Tho New Zealand Exploration Company have,
it is understood, definitely decided to adopt Mr Daw's scheme of operations for the development of their large property at V7aiorongomai. It will take three yeais to accomplish the work -without any other development, whilst the estimated expenditure that will be involved in the undertaking is something like £30,000. Aa offar made to float the WaitekaurL Magazine property on the Homo market h«s bean accepted on the following terms :— Capital of new company, £120,000 in £1 shares; present shareholders to receive £10C0 cash and 22,600 paid-up shares ; a working capital of £10,000 to be provided ; the option to be given for four calendar months from the arrival in London of the necessary documents, &c. The Waihi Company's second new find, the average assays from which ara between 16dwt and l7dwt to the ton, points to the fact that the Welcome lode through the whole extent of the ground is' of a highly payable nature. ' ' September 12. Cable advices have been received that the agents in Eondon have floated tho Royal Standnrdproperty, situated at Wharekernupunga. Some difficulty was experienced in getting the Board of Trade to consent to the use of the word "Royal" in naming the property, it being against usage, but it ia understood the members of the board have now consented. The It:>yal j Standard is turrounded by the Taviatock, Royal Standard No. 1, Fiery Cress, Prince of Wales, and Devon Consols, and the flotation of this property means a great deal to the Wharekeraupuoga district. Cleaning up took place today at the Victoria mine, when 114 loads of quartz yielded 2670z of retorted gold, miking a total value of £730.
