A COWARDLY OUTRAGE.
Pahiatua, September 10,
Lasb night a man named Timothy O'Gorman was robbed of a gold watch valued at £25 and both his ears sliced off close to his head. Joseph Kenay, licensee of tha Eoipire Hotel, Pahiatua, has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the outrage. Pahutua, Saptember 11. A man named O'Gorcnan wss drinking at Pahiatua on Wednesday afternoon, and waß returning home to Mangataidoka when he was waylaid, and the greater part of his ears lopped off. He found his way to a house, and was discovered there by his mate yesterday morning, covered with blood and helpless. Kenny, the man arrested on *w*Mioion, was brought up at the court this turning, and defended by Mr Tosswill. The police applied for a remand for eight days, and objected strongly to bail being allowed. The bench granted the remand, but allowed bail. The police are very reticent. O'Gorman was unablo to appear in court. Nimmo & Blaib's " Standard " Sekhs ate ua equalled for quality of strain. Their produce take prizes everywhere.
