LAND FOR NATIVES.
A statement showing tho progre«s made in making pvovieion of land for Natives, in acoordance with the reoonimendation of tho Joint) Committee on the Middle Island Native claims, has been laid on the table of the Hou«e. The surveys of the lands set aside are well forward. The reserve is between 80,000 and 90,000 acres. _
A young man named John Shannon WM committed for trial for attempting to commit suicide at Nelson by cutting his throat with % gazor. Shannon give himself uo to the polios an the 24th August.
